What is a dental implant?
It is a surgical titanium piece that replaces the roots of lost teeth. Different types of crowns, dental prostheses or fixed bridges are installed on implants.
What is done in a dental implant surgery?
The entire procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia. Implant placement is a minimally invasive surgical procedure where a piece of titanium is first prepared and then installed into the bone of the maxilla or mandible. In case there is no bone, a bone graft must be placed prior to installation.
