What is a dental implant?

It is a surgical titanium piece that replaces the roots of lost teeth. Different types of crowns, dental prostheses or fixed bridges are installed on implants.

What is done in a dental implant surgery?

The entire procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia. Implant placement is a minimally invasive surgical procedure where a piece of titanium is first prepared and then installed into the bone of the maxilla or mandible. In case there is no bone, a bone graft must be placed prior to installation.

All on 4 or 6 implants

This type of implant is ideal for those who have a partial or total loss of teeth. In a single intervention a dental prosthesis is placed on 4 or 6 fixed screws depending on the procedure.

Dental cases

There are two types of dental implants

  • Osseointegrated implants: These are the most common, being implants that are submerged within the patient's bone and have no contact with the mouth.

  • Subperiosteal implants: These are implants that are installed flush with the bone and lie below the patient's gum, but carry greater care.

Frequently Asked Questions

The surgical procedure is done under anesthesia, so it is completely painless. Once your treatment is completed, you will be prescribed pain therapy to make your recovery as pleasant as possible.

The rehabilitation of an implant will depend on the patient's health conditions, existing infections or complications during installation.

There are cases where we can perform the procedure immediately, if the bone conditions allow it. In some patients it is necessary to wait 4 to 6 months for the final rehabilitation of the implant.

Implants can have a lifespan equal to or greater than a natural tooth. It allows the patient to be able to eat without pain and to recover the balance of his bite. The implant offers better esthetic options for the patient, since it avoids having to use uncomfortable removable prostheses that can be easily damaged.
